Another week, another cross-country flight – back to California for Franziska. Meanwhile Alex was in Chicago, which was much colder. During the week, Franzi and her colleague built in a quick trip to the beach, which was absolutely beautiful, relaxing and a good way to the mind off work.
Back in New York, both of us had a pretty long work day on Friday and were the last two people left in the office. After leaving around 10pm , we had a tasty and down-calming dinner at Aurora in Soho. We really enjoyed the food, but must say we like the Brooklyn location better.
On Saturday we cleaned our apartment in the morning and then went separate ways. Franzi had brunch with Brittany and Pravani at Coco and Cru, an Australian brunch place with great pancakes. In the meantime, Alex met his friend Fabian to have a drink and a small lunch at Spiegel. Once we were reunited we stopped by one of Franzi’s favorite clothing boutiques in the East Village, Cloak & Dagger. Afterwards we mounted new mirrors onto our motorcycles. Before calling it a day, Alex enjoyed being taken back to his childhood building some Lego.
New York Tea Party
On Sunday we met one of our co-workers, Andrew, for Brunch at Samba Kitchen. After a Tapioca Beijinho and a Sirloin steak we picked up some cookies at Schmackary’s as a gift for our next invitation: We headed over to one of our firms’ partners apartments where we were invited for a tea tasting ceremony. We bid for this at our Christmas auction. With two colleagues we spent five hours with Patrick and his wife guiding our taste buds through various kinds tea. As you would expect from a German, Patrick really optimized his tea game and used professional lab equipment to make sure his tea is perfectly mixed. From white to green to black tea, we learned a lot, enjoyed the beautiful view over the city and feasted on some delicious pastries, before we carried our caffeine-infused bodies home.
