Our first motorcycle adventure

The next week was not very eventful. We both flew out to Detroit and Madison again and worked on our current projects. We feel quite comfortable already around the new colleagues and it is great to see that our company culture is consistent even across oceans.

Unfortunately, Thursday travel was a pain again – there were storms over New York State, which caused a 3-4-hour delay for both of us and only let us get home after midnight. But we were happy we made it to New York City at all since we had our car road test the next morning (we passed! However, more in our separate post).

On Friday night we joined the goodbye party of Franzi’s friend Lisa at the Skylark, a cool rooftop where we could watch a gorgeous sunset. Before going to bed, we stopped at Katz’s Delicatessen for a mid-night snack – a deli with a long history dating back to 1888 and definitely worth a visit for some delicious pastrami!

We got an early start to the morning on Saturday because it was time for our first motorcycle trip after Alex finally got his (repaired) motorcycle.

We picked a route over George Washington Bridge into Bear Mountain state park. We continued to Cold Spring, where we had a little lunch at a sweet café. We drove a little further east and then back into New York.

We had a small dinner at Spiegel and just relaxed there for a bit to calm the back and butt pain. On the way home, we spontaneously stopped by Insomnia Cookies and enjoyed tried some chewy goodness.

No, we are not only eating!

On Sunday, we completed some organizational tasks and visited a community garden. New York City has plenty of community gardens, which are a great place to enjoy some green and have a tiny getaway from the streets.

In the evening, we biked (in this case with bicycles) to Taboon, an Israeli restaurant, where we met two friends we had made in New York. We enjoyed some delicious food and good company, while watching an intense rainstorm outside. Luckily it stopped shortly after we embarked on our way back so that we could bike home relatively dry.
