This week again a week with perfectly unaligned travel schedules: On Monday Alex took off to South Carolina and Franzi got to stay in New York. South Carolina is always a huge contrast compared to NYC. Getting to the client site close to Spartanburg requires a 1.5 hours ride from the airport in Charleston. The last 30-40 minutes lead through small side streets which give a nice impression of how the more rural America looks like. Barns and sheds with multiple trucks in front of the house and countless churches characterize the countryside. Here and there a “Trump 2020” sign is also nothing uncommon. Luckily the hotel Alex and the team usually stay in has a gym. Finding any healthy food is a struggle. For lunch, options vary between sandwiches, burgers or other deep fried dishes. Dinner options in Spartanburg are slightly better. Overall an interesting experience that makes it easy to value the variety that NYC offers.
Friday was uneventful – a typical work day in the NYC office. On Saturday Alex went to New Jersey to get his Triumph inspected together with Jay. Both left very early around 7am at freezing temperatures around 0 degree Celsius. Other than at Triumph Brooklyn where both bikes were originally purchased, Triumph Metuchen in New Jersey has highly skilled technicians with great experience working on Triumphs. Getting the first service redone was an offering from Triumph North America to Alex and Jay as there were multiple indications that Triumph Brooklyn had not conducted the service properly. After being back in NYC around lunch time, we strolled around in Williamsburg and enjoyed the New York fall weather.
On Sunday we stayed at home and started the day with a relaxed breakfast. Later that day we tried out a gym since it was getting cold in the city and our usual run along the East River was continuously getting colder. We strengthened ourselves with some Sweetgreen afterwards and packed up to get going again on Monday.
