Automotive Team Event in SC and exploring Central Park

On Monday Franzi flew to Madison and Alex headed to Savannah. Business as usual for Franzi, the first Team Event for Alex. The various Practices of our Company once in a while organize off-sites where consultants assigned to a certain practice (industry or service group) get together to discuss industry trends, perspectives, talk strategy and of course to get to know each other better.

Automotive Team Event in South Carolina

The Automotive Practice decided to meet in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Hilton Head Island is a Lowcountry resort town and barrier island in Beaufort County. It is 20 miles (32 km) northeast of Savannah, Georgia. For Alex the event was a great opportunity to meet the majority of colleagues assigned to the Automotive Practice. Since we more or less just recently joined the US unit there were many new faces. The event lasted from Thursday morning until Friday morning. Weekdays were filled with Business related activities. Lunch breaks and spare time after dinner could be used to enjoy the beautiful landscape. On Friday before flying back home people could sign up for some fun activities. Alex chose to do 2-hours kayaking trip to see some dolphins and learn about the region.

Back in NYC with Nicola

Friday evening Franzi and Nicola had dinner and some margaritas at La Palapa, which is a Mexican restaurant around the block. Alex joined a bit later once he touched down in New York.

Good times at La Palapa

On Saturday we used the sunny day to explore Central Park and walked around the beautiful Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir.

In the evening, we went to our very first musical in New York – we saw “Chicago” on Broadway and absolutely loved it. It is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history and it is clear why. It was a mixture of witty amusement, great voices and an entertaining show with a lot of history.

On Sunday we got up early to participate in the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk” – a charity walk to collect donations for the American Cancer society to fight breast cancer through research and early detection. Besides that it was a pleasantly uneventful and relaxed day. The weekend ended with some Pizza from Motorino close to our Apartment.

Many people walking for the good cause
